Workshop details:
During the weekend, Raz will teach grooves that mix elements from Brazilian & Cuban rhythms creating uplifting and funky dance grooves, which are challenging and enjoyable to learn.
Raz’s clear instruction will help to develop your listening and drumming skills. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be fully aware of the interplay between the instruments and understand how the pieces are put together. We’ll also explore dynamics within the arrangements and work on playing techniques for each of the instruments.
This workshop is not only an opportunity for participants to progress on the instruments they usually play in their local groups but it is also a great chance to try out some new instruments.
We’ll be working with: Surdos, Repiniques, Caixas, Tamborims, Agogos, Timbas, Ganzas (Chocalhos).
The weekend is also a great opportunity to meet other samba heads from all over!
The workshop will include 15 hours of tuition (instrument technique
and ensemble) and is open to all participants with prior experience in
samba drumming (but you don’t have to be an expert!)
Schedule:
Here is a schedule for the weekend (nothing set in stone!)
Friday 7pm – 10pm (Registration at the hostel from 5pm)
Saturday 10am – 8pm
Sunday 1pm – 4pm
Venue:
The Atlantic Apartotel in Bundoran (2-3 Main Street, F94 TR23 Bundoran, Ireland) will be our home for the weekend, (with swimming pool & hot tub! Bring a towel!) and Free parking.
Plus full board catering from McGarrigles (Hot breakfast on Sunday morning!).
Dinner (3 courses!) and party on Saturday night in Bundoran’s finest venue!
Instruments:
Participants must bring their own instruments, some instruments will be available for general use.
Cost: €TBC (all inclusive)
ACCOMMODATION:
NO Towel provided!
Shared apartments for 6 to 8 people.
Couples, please specify at registration so a double room can be arranged.
Single room can be arranged at extra cost.
Swimming pool, sauna, hot tub are available in the hotel!
