This workshop will focus entirely on the percussion played in a typical Salsa band and is a great opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of how the percussion sections works together in an ensemble.

During the workshop, students will have a chance to work through typical arrangements and to learn the patterns commonly played in different sections of a tune such as intro, breaks, verse, chorus, solo sections and endings.

During the study sessions, we will look at techniques, basic patterns, variations and phrasing for instruments including congas, bongo, timbales, guiro and clave.
