From 2026, this course will be one day longer. An unforgettable weekend of Brazilian rhythms and songs set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside. Immerse yourself in the sounds from the streets and clubs of Brazils effervescent carnival scene. Be inspired and challenged by the vast array of powerful folkloric rhythms from the Candomblé traditions.
TUTORS
Our venue is an Activity Centre in Wymondley Woods and adjacent is a 20-acre conservation area with mature woods, stream, pond and grassland.
Come and explore the vast array of music from Brazil with a focus on traditional, carnival and folk music. There are endless possibilities of songs and rhythms combined with fusions of different styles and instruments.
This is a great opportunity to discover some of these with two of the UK’s most respected teachers.
Content
Bateria, Candomble, Congas, Pandeiro, Pagode, Songs, Congas with Bateria, technique and arrangements.
Time will be spent working on individual instruments as well as group work and fusions of traditional & modern instruments.
Who can take part?
The workshops are designed for people who already play Brazilian percussion and/or have hand-drumming experience. Participants should be proficient on at least one instrument.
The classes will be run at a medium to fast pace and also provide challenges for the more advanced players.
The course is also ideal for musicians who want to acquire some percussion skills and learn about Brazilian music.

During your free time you can go for a walk in the woods or enjoy some of the on site activities.

To help keep things tidy and ensure this workshop runs smoothly, we kindly ask all participants to help with certain household duties.

Arrive from 6 pm on Wednesday to register and put up tent (if camping) etc.. Depart on Sunday by 4 pm. A full schedule will be sent nearer the time.
